‘Head and Whole’ Exhibition, Abbey Walk Gallery, Grimsby.

Head and Whole: 9 AUG – 3 SEPT
Curator: Linda Ingham
Led by artist-curator Linda Ingham, The show will be the first in a series that concentrates on the subject of human form in contemporary visual arts practice. The Exhibition draws together a group of national and international artists and examines two concepts – first, the historic tradition of artists making studies of fellow artists and the second the idea of ‘No Fixed Identity’ – the slippery stuff of portrayal and self-portrayal of people by the practicing artist.

The content of the show will pivot around its only historical image. A charming and somewhat traditional impressionist painting that has only recently come to light – believed to be the only full length portrait in existence of Van Gogh, by his friend, the female French artist Jeanne Donnadieu, entitled The Misunderstood – on loan from a private collection.

Open Tues – Sat 9.00am – 16.00pm
