Corrie Chiswell was highly commended at the Welsh Artist of the Year ceremony in 2008 for her painting ‘Truth is a Mountain / Mynydd yw Gwirionedd’.
In 2009 she won the painting award for her entry ‘Disillusion/Dadrithiad’.
The Wales Portrait Award is a new Biennial designed to increase the awareness of portraiture as a fine art discipline. Little has been done to encourage portraiture in Wales since the late 19th century and this award is designed to redeem this gap in provision and to restore this important art form to its rightful place in modern Wales.
