St David’s Hall, The Hayes

The competition was open to any artists over the age of 18, living and working in Wales, and any Welsh artists living in the UK. The Welsh Artist of the Year was founded during the millennium year to promote and celebrate the wealth of artistic ability in Wales. Originally intended as a one-off event, it is now in its eighth year. Last year’s winner, Monmouth-based ceramicist Walter Keeler, has gone on win a Creative Wales Award from the Arts Council of Wales and exhibit at the Glynn Vivian Gallery, Swansea.
